Fashion TV to showcase Perth talent to the world

Perth's fabulous fashion status will see events from the city broadcast around the world courtesy of fashiontv Oceania, which will launch in Perth this month.

High profile fashion stylist Sylvia Giacci has been signed as the WA agent for the channel, and will launch her coverage at the glamorous Paspaley Polo in the City event.

FTV broadcasts only the most fabulous fashion parties and runway shows from around the world, and will broadcast Perth events to the 202 countries that currently watch the fashion-only channel.

MANILA, Philippines - Bulgari will auction a collection of 11 one-of-a-kind high jewelry creations and seven limited-edition timepieces at Christie’s New York on Dec. 8 to further strengthen its support for Save the Children. The collection is worth $4 million and all proceeds will be donated to the organization’s “Rewrite the Future” campaign that aims to provide quality education for eight million children in conflict-affected areas.

MANILA, Philippines - Despite having grown up in the fashion industry, Marielle Santos-Po, merchandising manager for the house brands of Cinderella, the department store and fashion retailer that her family founded nearly 70 years ago, is not a victim of it. Marielle mostly considers trends as statements of fashion that pass on a seasonal basis. Hers is a fashion sense that is very feminine: printed dresses and rounded curves. Clean lines and easy closures.

And even if she is dedicated to her work, Marielle still, visibly and consciously, puts time and focus into other interests. She cooks. Travels when she can, mostly with her husband Leo Po. And she also runs. Which, if you think about it, complements her vibrant disposition and lively personality. Marielle is actually training to run in a half-marathon early next year. Just to prove that she can. “I’m actually following a program right now. I’m training myself to run 15 to 16 kilometers just before the run and will only do the 21k on the event itself. After I do that, I’ll probably just relax and run leisurely.”

As a designer, Renu Bothra has worked on a fair share of collections. But perhaps her latest line will top her favourites list. After all, she has put together this line along with her photographer friend Ayesha Broacha, who has done the fashion illustrations for this collection.

As far as inspirations go, Ayesha admits that Renu gave her a free reign. "That's the best part of working with Renu; she asked me to do as I wished. So there's no specific theme that I have stuck to; I have just featured the average urban woman and her surroundings. Luckily, Renu and I had the same thing in mind, so the line has shaped quite well,".

Renu explains that the line took her a good three weeks to put together after Ayesha was done with her illustrations. "We have used the illustrations as prints for just the clothes and bags. But eventually we will translate them into prints for footwear as well," reveals Renu.
