Mumbai, Dec 14 (ANI): Designers here attempted to blend Indian and western styles into a trendy bridal wear to woo prospective brides.

The collections showcased at a fashion show here on Sunday, saw models wearing varieties of lehanga with sequins and colourful works on it.

The collection was specially made keeping in mind the elaborate Indian wedding requirements of a bride.

“It would be great idea to showcase Indo-Western line which would give the bride more options of wearing a Indo-Western outfit which is as comfortable and drapes equally well like a lehanga or churidaar,” said Priya Kataria Puri, fashion designer.

The show also saw Brazilian model Giselle Monterio walking the ramp for designer duo Monica and Karishma who depicted Indian royalty in their bridal outfits.

“I love the clothes, I love the colours and the crystals on it, there is so much details on, I feel comfortable in these clothes, I feel beautiful,”

Popularly known as ‘the boys’ in the Indian fashion circuit, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla are the favourite designers when it comes to Bollywood celebrities like Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and also when it comes to dressing celebrities like Vanisha Mittal and Riddhima Kapoor for their weddings.

Their creations have draped the bodies of international personalities like Dame Judi Dench and Victoria Beckham and being the first Indians to display their designs at Harrods and Harvey Nichols in London has given them the global recognition they deserve.

Their costumes for Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas also won them a National Award.

For the 20 years they have been together, Abu and Sandeep have been pioneers in haute couture and have enthralled the world of fashion with their inimitable fashion style, creating exquisite and one off creations.

But for our designer duo bridalwear remains their forte and one of their core businesses.

The two designers are completely self taught. Abu Jani, born in Mumbai started off by designing costumes for films and later started specialising in embroidery.

Sandeep Khosla born in Kapurthala, started working in his family leather business where he specialised in carving on leather and experimented with tie and die and batik.

Years later Abu and Sandeep collaborated for the first time launched their signature collection called ‘Mata Hari’.

The style gurus set themselves apart from the others by doing what nobody had done before. Being true fans of conventional styles and craftsmanship, they did not want timeless techniques like zardozi to fade away and brought the traditional embroidery and embellishments back to life by giving it a fresh look. http://fashionnews99.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-12-13T05:59:00-08:00&max-results=1
